WHAT IS THE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN TO DO ABOUT CHURCH-- AS TO SIZE, WHERE WE MEET, ETC.? Study the scriptures! there are many resources today online, many books written about the subject.
Check my blogs, cyberchurch. .blogspot.com, or beginningtheword.blogspots.com, as to what we're called, Evangelicals, etc.,
There has always existed this commitment distinction in church--between genuinely committed Christians, who will witness and do things about their beliefs, and those Christians who are satisfied to just simply attend church. The latter Christians could easily be judged as committed, by mainly walking through the building doors or how well- attached to the maintenance to the building.
Unfortunately, as to being called "committed", good people will make the judgement of the other believer's commitment by how often the believer walks through the BUILDING DOORS or what degree of what I am doing relates to that building-- even after everybody agrees that the BUILDING is not the church.
Obviously, the Evangelical Christians should be knowledgeable about the scriptures on the above subject, but don't try to divide the body over it. I'm not speaking about things pertaining to fundamental Christian doctrine. And you, as an Evangelical Christian, need the fellowship the church provides.
THE PARABLE that Jesus speaks about in Matthew 13:24-30, about the Kingdom of Heaven, may touch on this. Check my blog: cyberchurch.blogspot.com .
Jesus's explanation about this parable in Matthew 13:36-43 is what makes this particular parable significant. Matthew 13: 36 Jesus sent the multitude away so only his disciplres are hearing this.
Jesus is the one sowing the good seed (v. 37). The field is the world and the good seed, wheat, are believers and the "tares" actually called "Darnell" or false wheat (at first appearing as wheat, but they are not wheat) (v. 38) "The enemy" sowing the false wheat is the devil (v. 39) the Harvest is the end of the world. ( v. 39-42) The leaders in this harvest are angels (v. 39-41)
